Mixing prints

One thing I learned in fashion school was how to mix print. I mostly took inspiration from one of my good friends. She is definitely the master of mixing print, I’m pretty sure she was always in some kind of print! Here are some tips for mixing prints.

1. Don’t mix two loud prints; make sure one of the prints is smaller than the other. That way they aren’t fighting for attention.
2. Colour is key. Make sure one of the colours is in both your top and bottom, or a similar colour. This brings the look together. My look has both black and white; the pants tend to take more attention than the top because it is a busier print. Also both pieces have the same amount of colour. The top is focusing on white, and the bottom black.
3. Belt it! When you layer a cardigan or layering piece overtop, add a belt around the waist. That way it unites both the prints together.

4. Accessorize accordingly. In my look I paired my outfit with dainty earrings, a simple ring and clutch. I could’ve added a necklace but I wanted the outfit to be focused on the print more.

5. Mix textures! It’s an easier way of mixing print and it adds different visual elements to your outfit. Try a knitted sweater, with a leather skirt, or lace skirt.
So experiment with your prints, be bold and have fun! Let me know if these tips help, and if you try them out! XX

Coral reef

Summer is fast approaching, and with all this hot weather lately it’s got me pumped for warm season. High waisted shorts are not going anywhere this summer so its time to pull them out. There are so many tutorials on how to make your own high waisted short out of an old pair of jeans, so if you haven’t tried the popular trend, be daring and go for it! In this outfit I layered up with a leather jacket because it was warm but possible showers. How do you wear your shorts?

Polka Dot.

There’s something about a good polka dot that looks so cute and pulled together. It’s incredibly easy to style, and this particular H&M top is super comfortable. Whenever I’m not sure, or have trouble picking out an outfit I tend to reach for anything polka dot. In western Canada right now it can be sunny one day then rainy and cold the next. The vest I’m wearing is quite warm so to avoid a jacket I wear this fur lined almost suede like vest. Some days I just don’t want to wear a coat, you know? All that bulk from winter I just want it to go away and stay away for a while. Let me know what your spring layering piece? Leave a :) below if your reading this!

Don't leave just yet summer!

Hey guys! How is everybody today? I’m back in my hometown for the weekend, and I love it! I had brunch with two of my friends this morning then went shopping for a bridal shower gift, and birthday gift. Tomorrow is my friend’s birthday and she is having a tea party! I’m really excited; I’m definitely going to be blogging my outfit for you guys! Yesterday my mom and I spent some time together; I always love having long talks with my mom about everything. I think it’s my favorite part of my life is my long talks with her, asking her questions about how to deal with everything that is happening. Do you love long talks with your parents? Leave a comment!
My mom actually bought me this dress while in Miami; she fell in love with the print. I absolutely fell in love with the print when she brought it home. I knew exactly what I was going to pair it with. I complimented this dress with a floral necklace. Both the necklace and dress have the same colours, so I thought it was a perfect match. To finish off the look I paired it with some white flats. This look is a perfect summer look for tea, or hanging with friends!

Somewhere in the mountains

Hello everybody! I mentioned on Monday I was going on a plane ride with my friends, well I did it! I was not as scared as I thought I would be. It started out very scary taking off but once you got into the air it was spectacular. It was such a great experience, and I somewhat got over my fear of heights. We went to Harrison Mills, Stave Lake, Golden Ears Provincial Park, and Lillooet River. It was amazing to see all the untouched mountains and how huge they are. Living in the Fraser valley all my life I knew we were surrounded by mountains but I did not know there were THAT many mountains.  The plane ride was an hour long and I enjoyed every minute of it. Big thanks to my best friend Emily for taking me! Also what do you think of my outfit. My friend gave me this top and I’ve been dying to wear it. It’s so beautiful; it will be my go-to shirt from now on. I can wear it with anything, I love it! I paired it with some shorts because it was very hot that day. To pull the outfit together I added a nude coloured flower necklace, and nude sandals. Have you ever been on a plane ride? Leave a comment!
