Helloooo! It has been a while…to say the least! Let me say I’m sincerely sorry for leaving you all in the dark (without a light). But let’s get on to where I’ve been for the past year and a bit, I moved to London! WHAT? I know right, but hey things can change pretty drastically. Currently I’m back in the Fraser Valley enjoying the good life. There is nothing like coming back home after living in a busy city/different country. London is an amazing city; you cannot go to Europe without visiting it! There’s a little bit of history everywhere you walk. I lived in Bermondsey, an area in the Southwark borough in south London. Incredibly close to Tower Bridge just down the road from the Bermondsey market, Borough market, and the tube station London Bridge. It was a great spot to live; I couldn’t believe how I lucked out. Days after I returned to Canada a friend sent me a link to BBC about the World War Two bomb that was in Bermondsey. Scrolling through the website I couldn’t believe my eyes but the bomb was found on Grange walk, right next to my old flat! What a piece of history to be a part of! But don’t worry they have safely moved the bomb to a quary in Kent to be detonated.
Whilst in the UK I made great friends, explored amazing places, and did not pick up an accent. (I know that’s what your all wondering). However I did pick up a few new words for example:
Trainers (runners, or for Americans tennis shoes)
Flat (we all know that one is apartment)
You alright? (It’s like slang for saying how are you? I could never get used to that. As a Canadian it means “are you hurt” or “are you sick”. I always thought people were assuming something was wrong with me.)
Daft (More of a northern thing than in the south, but I did have a friend from Liverpool who said daft. It means silly or stupid.
Fancy (I had fun with this word WHILST I was there. Do you fancy a walk? Translating to would you like to go for a walk?)
Posh (It means very high class! There’s an area in London called Mayfair, and it is filled with stores like Marc Jacobs, Lanvin Paris, Oscar de la Renta, Balenciaga, and Christian Louboutin to name a few. That’s a posh area! Side note: My friends and I were walking through Mount Street Gardens and spotted Alec Baldwin facetiming somebody in the park causally sitting on a bench. Definitely had to hold my crazy fan girl inside WHILST walking through a POSH area! (See what I’m doing?)
Anyways, I will always cherish my time in London. I plan to go back, but maybe more north this time. Lately I’ve been dreaming of the English Lake District or Peak District, but that’s another blog post.
I’m extremely excited to share with you what I’ve been working on for the last little while. First the layout is different, keeping it classy! I’ve got a TON of cute spring looks that I cannot wait to show you, easy crafts and DIY projects for you to try out, traveling diaries of where I’ve been to this past year, and maybe even a fashion video, WHAT? Now are you as excited as I am!?
Check out my classic tourist London photos and let me know what you’ve been up to for the past year, or have you been to the UK before? What are your favourite things about traveling the UK? Post a :) in the comments if you like the new layout, and are looking forward to cute spring outfits.
