Simplistic statement

Leather jacket Asos
Grey loose top last season
Denim chambray shirt J.Crew
Black jeans American Eagle
Nike free 5.0 Nike

If you follow me on instagram you will know I have a slight obsession with anything marble. Marble has quickly become the coolest counter top to take pictures on. I love that marble is such a simplistic statement. It instantly brings a hint sophistication and chicness to decor, accessory, or outfit. Here I’m wearing my favourite marble necklace, I kept the rest of my outfit simple because I was doing a lot of walking downtown Vancouver, I needed to be warm and comfortable. What do you think of marble as a decor or fashion item?

Happy Easter + Table setting

Maxi dress: Forever 21 (old) similar here
Rose gold wedges: Ted Baker London (old) similar here and here
Purse: From Mexico
Easter is the most important holiday in a christian’s life. Good friday, being the day Jesus was nailed to a cross for our sins, on Sunday the grave was empty and he had rose from the dead. It is an amazing story. To think he died for you reading this post, and me. But yet we all still continue to sin. Jesus is amazing for enduring that, and to have a connection to him and speak with him, because he really is my best friend is an amazing feeling. He is the reason we can run to God with anything, and call him Daddy. This holiday is beautiful, so let’s celebrate his Jesus’ rising! This is the outfit I will be wearing to Easter Supper. I have also included some pictures of my table setting, and hopefully you can get some inspiration for mine! How are you celebrating this glorious Easter weekend? What will your table look like?

Happy Friday loves!
Well congrats to everyone we made it to the weekend! Another week and we are finished the first month of 2016. Sounds absolutely crazy because I dread January, it always feels like the longest month of the year. What were your new years resolutions? Mine were the usual loose weight, and be a better daughter/friend. Like Oprah said in her weight watchers commercials “lets make 2016 the year of our best bodies”. Well Oprah, that might be easy to say, but its dang hard to do. I’ve already pigged out on so much naan bread this week its not even funny. But balance and moderation are key. Thats my moto going into next week, the week we attempt to eat healthy. Lets see how this goes, wish me luck!

Autumn leaves + 34 hours without electricity

“Turning on a light switch is a luxury.” I did not think that could be true until this past week when I spent 34+ hours without electricity. In the valley we had a massive windstorm, knocking down power lines, uprooting trees, and wrecking houses. 40,000 people were without power in my city. The 90km winds even pulled over a semi off the freeway. Businesses were shut down, the city was absolute chaos. While the power was off, what could we do other than stay in our house where it was safe? The power outage forced us to find other things to do besides watch TV, or use the internet. Our first night we went out for hot drinks and food then spent the day relaxing. (I napped)  Our evening was spent playing charades, and chatting. The next day businesses had power, but my home still did not. I found myself constantly calling home to see how my family was doing, and if they needed anything. I came home to no power, and after our supper by candlelight we played the famous game of charades. Reflecting on this experience I’ve realized that living without electricity is definitely a challenge. Putting mascara on using candlelight or a flashlight is hard work! Being able to flick a switch and see everything around you is a luxury, something so simple that I definitely take for granted in everyday life. I kept thinking about my ancestors and how they lived. Today we can go on Facebook or facetime our loved ones, but back then if you did not live with them or next to them, you basically did not talk to them! There are people out there today that don’t get to flick a switch and watch the lights go on. Having no access to the internet or television really brought my family and I closer together, we shared some serious laughs playing charades and talking about anything we wanted without outside interruptions. The 34 hour electricityless challenge was hard, but very worth it. It makes me really appreciate everything we have.

Give thanks.

Happy Wednesday, I hope everybody is enjoying their short week! I’m still recovering from a major food coma this past weekend. This thanksgiving I have too many things to be thankful for. So I’m going to make a list.

1. I’m so thankful for the love God and Jesus provide me with. The strength when I’m tired, the patience when things are not working out and the endless support and love that never runs out. God is so patient with me, and I’m grateful for the experiences and opportunities he has provided me with.

2. YOU. Blogging friends, I’m grateful to every single one of you! Even just a view makes my day, thank you for taking the time to read, and comment. :)

3. My family. Especially time I got to spend with my sister and brother in law this summer. Spending real quality time and getting to know my brother in law better. Getting to know their hearts this summer is something I’ll always cherish. (Don’t tell them)

4. My two best friends. They have always supported me no matter what. Friends can be taken for granted of, but these two I’ve realized they are pretty special. We have definitely gone through some bumps, but I’m thankful for those rocky times because that’s what makes us even stronger friends, and really loving and knowing each other.
What are you thankful for this year?

FASHION SCHOOL GRADUATE!

Hello fashion lovers! How is everybody this fine Thursday? Well I’ve got some big news for you! I’M GRADUATED!! My last day of school was Tuesday, and we had a little party with our teachers. After the party my whole class went to a restaurant just up from our school. The rest of the day was spent with my friends at our friend’s house. It was such a great day. I would like to thank every single viewer; you inspire me to create more blog posts, and continue with my love of fashion. So a big thanks for coming along this journey with me. Yesterday I had a meeting downtown and spent the rest of the day wandering around. What are you guys up to? Any big summer plans?

This is the outfit I wore on the last day of school. I wanted it to be a little fancy because it was graduation, but not overly fancy because we still had to write a test. I kept my accessories simple because the top of the dress has a lot of bling. I added a bracelet to my ankle to dress up my shoes. My shoes are so fun because of the chunky heel. What do you guys think of this graduation look?

Dress: Forever 21
Shoes: Birthday present

Thank you for coming along with journey with me!

mint obsessed!

SORRY EVERYBODY! I’ve been away for such a long time, and I apologize. I have been busy with school. Our last class is next Tuesday and we have our grad that day as well. I cannot believe we are so close to being done. Sometimes it feels like just yesterday it was my first day of class, meeting everybody but now they are good friends of mine. There is lots of news to tell you besides graduation. Our class had our fashion show July, 16 and it was very successful. I will post photos soon! I also turned 20, which feels crazy. Life is speeding by, and I’m loving the ride. I am working on my portfolio, so the link will be up by next week if you’d like to check that out. If you want to follow my day-to-day life my instagram is “julieaaane”, or follow me on twitter: @julieanne11343. I try to update my social media once a day.

This is an outfit inspired by wearing one piece three times. I will illustrate how to transform this dress/skirt into three daytime looks. This first look has a denim shirt tied at the waist to make the waist appear smaller, and transform this dress into a skirt. I also buttoned up the denim shirt to add a more preppy look, along with a necklace to pull the look together. The shoes and clutch add the finishing touch to this look. The nude heels make my legs look longer, and the white clutch pulls out the white in the shirt. The studs are my favourite part of the clutch!

Shirt: Love Culture
Skirt: (Actually a dress) H&M
Necklace: Forever 21
Shoes: Aldo
Purse: Le Chateau
