Happy Friday loves!
Well congrats to everyone we made it to the weekend! Another week and we are finished the first month of 2016. Sounds absolutely crazy because I dread January, it always feels like the longest month of the year. What were your new years resolutions? Mine were the usual loose weight, and be a better daughter/friend. Like Oprah said in her weight watchers commercials “lets make 2016 the year of our best bodies”. Well Oprah, that might be easy to say, but its dang hard to do. I’ve already pigged out on so much naan bread this week its not even funny. But balance and moderation are key. Thats my moto going into next week, the week we attempt to eat healthy. Lets see how this goes, wish me luck!

Sparkle Sparkle.

Hello!! How was everybody’s Christmas and New years? I had such a wonderful break off, really spent time with my family. My sister and brother in law came to visit us from the Dominican Republic. We took them all around Vancouver, started our day with  “Fly over Canada” at Canada Place. It is definitely a MUST see for any tourist or anyone from Canada for that matter. We sat in what looked like a roller coaster ride with seat belts and then were pushed into this huge screen, our feet were dangling off the edge. It was meant to feel like you were actually in a helicopter flying. It was such a beautiful movie, with sprits of rain falling on your face going through Niagara Falls, the smell of evergreens going through the forests of BC, and beautiful views of Toronto, the Badlands, and the Okanagan. They had a Christmas special at the end of the movie and we flew through Santa’s workshop. I for sure pay to see “Fly over Canada” again. Another highlight of Christmas was tubbing at Manning park, something i’ve never done before and i’ve lived here all my life. If you follow me on instagram you would see my pictures over Christmas (@julieaaane) It was an absolute blast! What were everybody’s highlights?

Blush.

Hello friends! Sorry about no #TravelTuesday this week, I’ve been so busy! My sister’s wedding is coming up on June 13, so I’ve been scrambling around trying to get everything done. I promise to be more consistent next week! Today’s outfit was inspired by the crop top, I’m not one to show off my stomach, but I loved the detail in this top. Paired with high waisted pants, there’s a tiny bit of skin showing but definitely not too much. I love pairing crop tops with high waisted pants, and then you don’t have to worry about tucking your shirt in, or it being uneven in the back and noticeable. I love the sport/runners trend right now. I really hope it never goes out of style. How everybody’s Thursday going? Any plans for the weekend? X

Mixing prints

One thing I learned in fashion school was how to mix print. I mostly took inspiration from one of my good friends. She is definitely the master of mixing print, I’m pretty sure she was always in some kind of print! Here are some tips for mixing prints.

1. Don’t mix two loud prints; make sure one of the prints is smaller than the other. That way they aren’t fighting for attention.
2. Colour is key. Make sure one of the colours is in both your top and bottom, or a similar colour. This brings the look together. My look has both black and white; the pants tend to take more attention than the top because it is a busier print. Also both pieces have the same amount of colour. The top is focusing on white, and the bottom black.
3. Belt it! When you layer a cardigan or layering piece overtop, add a belt around the waist. That way it unites both the prints together.

4. Accessorize accordingly. In my look I paired my outfit with dainty earrings, a simple ring and clutch. I could’ve added a necklace but I wanted the outfit to be focused on the print more.

5. Mix textures! It’s an easier way of mixing print and it adds different visual elements to your outfit. Try a knitted sweater, with a leather skirt, or lace skirt.
So experiment with your prints, be bold and have fun! Let me know if these tips help, and if you try them out! XX

Coral reef

Summer is fast approaching, and with all this hot weather lately it’s got me pumped for warm season. High waisted shorts are not going anywhere this summer so its time to pull them out. There are so many tutorials on how to make your own high waisted short out of an old pair of jeans, so if you haven’t tried the popular trend, be daring and go for it! In this outfit I layered up with a leather jacket because it was warm but possible showers. How do you wear your shorts?

It's still sweater weather

The weather in Vancouver is so unpredictable; I think I’ve mentioned that once or twice. We have had gorgeous 20+ degree weather and then all of a sudden BOOM rain, dampness and the chills. But we definitely have to appreciate what we’ve got, at least we get 20 degree weather, other part of Canada are still suffering. This look is perfect for those colder spring days, and the rain jacket definitely helps! Winters in London are very similar to winters in Vancouver. I’m not one to gravitate towards sweaters, but I was inspired by the English because everywhere I went someone usually had a sweater on. I especially love the preppy collar look underneath a sweater, so cute! Everyone should have a basic sweater that you can layer up, or layer down. Who else loves sweaters??
