Off duty style

Leather jacket from Reitmans (old) similar here
Loose fitting vneck tank H&M Switzerland similar here and here
High waisted loose cuffed pants Asos
Nike free 5.0 Nike
Sunglasses Maui Jim HANA BAY
These pants are seriously one of my favourites items in my closet. I think I've worn them to just about every occasion from work, christmas parties, and days by the pool. They are extremely versatile in every way. For a clean cut polished look for work I tuck a striped tighter fitting shirt into the pants and finish off with some cute booties. (It makes me look super tall) For an off duty, more casual look I loosely draped my top over, and added some sneakers, and of course a cool leather jacket. I hope everyone is having a great week!

Marc Jacobs + How to jean shop

Black leather jacket from Reitmans
White and grey knit sweater from The little white house
Plaid scarf purchased in Scotland
Blue denim by Marc by Marc Jacobs
White sneakers by Converse
Brown handbag from Francesca's
The jean! Put shopping next to it and it’s every females nightmare. It is such a daunting task that it gets put to the back burner, and then I get frustrated when I have no clean pants to wear. But then I get even more frustrated when I’ve been putting jean shopping off for months. So today I’m giving you my secrets to jean shopping to make your experience a little easier.
  1. When you find a pair of jeans you really like. Get two, seriously! Same colour, different colour, doesn’t matter but get two. You will thank yourself later.
  2. Do your research. There are so many types of jeans on the market, style, colour fit! For myself personally I don’t like the light washed denim. I find the darker the jean, the smaller I appear. And most importantly try on as many as possible. Every brand is different, and there are a million different fits!
  3. Don’t worry about the length. It can always be adjusted, and that’s probably even better because it’s tailored exactly to you!
  4. Spurge on denim! It’s something we wear so often that it just makes sense to buy a good quality-easy wash pair of jeans. If the colour is going to fade after a couple washes chances are you’ll have to buy another pair soon, and in the long run thats not ideal. The jean’s I’m wearing here are Marc Jacobs. I waited until sale day, as well as I worked for the company so I got a pretty good deal for expensive denim. It’s been one of the best purchases I’ve ever made! They are so comfortable, easy to wash, and the colour has not faded at all in a year!
  5. Try to go a bit smaller in size. Keep in mind that denim shrinks then expands, so the jeans in store will fit differently after a while. Try to go a size down, or wash your jeans in cold water and no dryer.
  6. Stretch denim is your best friend. It will move and curve to your shape. Also pay attention to where the jeans hit on your body. I prefer a high waisted jean because I have a small waist, it tends to gap in the back, and half the time with normal rise my butt is hanging out.
  7. Most importantly have fun! Grab a good friend, so she can tell you what you look like from the back if there is no 360 mirror. For me nothing is better than “woah your butt looks really great in those jeans”! :)

Blush.

Hello friends! Sorry about no #TravelTuesday this week, I’ve been so busy! My sister’s wedding is coming up on June 13, so I’ve been scrambling around trying to get everything done. I promise to be more consistent next week! Today’s outfit was inspired by the crop top, I’m not one to show off my stomach, but I loved the detail in this top. Paired with high waisted pants, there’s a tiny bit of skin showing but definitely not too much. I love pairing crop tops with high waisted pants, and then you don’t have to worry about tucking your shirt in, or it being uneven in the back and noticeable. I love the sport/runners trend right now. I really hope it never goes out of style. How everybody’s Thursday going? Any plans for the weekend? X

Green on Green

Lately I have been obsessed with cacti, and succulents. I don’t remember when this obsession started, but I just can’t get enough of them. If you want to see some amazing cacti visit yesterday’s post where I went through the Muttart Conservatory, they have some amazing plants! When I saw this shirt it was love at first sight, I could think of 10 ways to wear this wonderful piece. Has anyone been star-struck by an amazing garment? I chose these boyfriend green jeans with this top to tie in the green, and then to add some edge of course I had to add the leather jacket. I have been loving this one from Reitman’s I got a couple months ago! Who else is just as obsessed with succulents?!

Gold love

Happy May long weekend! I hope everyone is enjoying their extra holiday Monday! For those of you from other countries today is a holiday in Canada. It called Victoria day, everyone tends to go camping, or spends their time close to a lake. I am so sorry I have been away for so long, but I took a little holiday. You’ll find out where I went and everything I did in tomorrows blog post, so get excited for #traveltuesday! This pictures were taken in a beautiful location; the Chilliwack lake area. My town has such beautiful mountains and lakes! Onto the outfit! I took this gold skirt and paired it with an army green tee for a casual vibe, then dressed it up with a leather jacket and cheetah heels. It’s unexpected, but I love taking the unexpected and making it look cool. It amazing what you can do dressy items/casual items! What is an unexpected piece in your wardrobe? And also, what did you do for the long weekend? Let me know below :)

leather leather

Quick hello today! I hope everyone is super fantastic! I’m actually headed off someplace exciting today. As it is Mother’s day this weekend, my mom and I are going to visit my grandma so we can both be with our mom’s! I’ll give you a couple hints as to where we are going: 1. It’s an hour flying time/ 10 hours driving from where I live, 2. They are very proud of their AAA beef, 3. This province does have mountains, but none where we are going. Any ideas? If you know leave a comment down below. I hope everyone has an amazing mother’s day, and I hope your all planning on spoiling your mommas!

serious for plaid

These days I feel like time is slipping away. I wake up, and then sooner or later its night and I’m back in bed again to sleep. Once I left high school time started slipping away, but it slipped away for the better because in college all I wanted was to get on to my next phase in life. Well here I am in that next phase, and I’m still unsure of the future. I keep hearing “Your only 21, you’ve got lots of time to figure it out”. I just want to know right. Now. But the beauty of it is that God has our future, he knows what’s going to happen.

The secret to styling daytime is balance. Taking something casual, but dressing it up. Or taking something fancy, and dressing it down. I love the combination of something unusual about an outfit. Plaid reminds me of those jack coats that farmers wear, but plaid can get dressed up as I’m showing here. It can be worn a thousand different ways! How do you wear your plaid??

Pink leather

Wow, do you guys hate me? I’m so sorry I haven’t been blogging, I have been SO busy. I actually started school last week for Fashion Arts & Business. So far I really like it, but its definitely going to be a lot of work. I think I have like 5 projects on the go and due within a month and a half. I’ve been trying to keep up with all the projects daily. I have to learn to set my priorities, any advice? I would love to hear what you guys have to say. I have been out of school for a year and it’s been hard to get my brain back into “school mode” so please, any advice? What have you guys been up to? Would you like to see my apartment? I might do an outfit photo shoot in my apartment for everyone, would you guys like that?

This outfit was inspired by my leather pants. I was going apartment hunting that day and wanted to look professional but still keep my style. I added the pink blazer to give it a business approach, this is a great way to change up your outfit. I also added a fun necklace to pull the outfit all together. I love the colours of this necklace. To top everything off I added my super comfy light pink heels. This outfit was perfect for what I was doing that day, don’t you think?
